Women's Basketball Travels to Holy Cross Wednesday for CCAC Tilt

HAMMOND, Ind. -- The No. 13 Purdue University Calumet women’s basketball team will look to snap a two-game losing streak when the Peregrines travel to Notre Dame, Ind. to take on Holy Cross College in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

The Peregrines (18-6, 10-4) will take on the Saints (2-23, 0-13) beginning at at 4:30 p.m (CT) Wednesday at the McKenna Center.

Purdue Calumet suffered its second straight loss at the Fitness and Recreation Center Feb. 7 in a 71-62 setback to Indiana South Bend. Junior Jada Buggs scored 18 points, Senior Kami Graber had 17 points, Sophomore Cassidy Deno had 14 points and Junior Patrice McBee chipped in her 13th double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds in the setback, which set the Peregrines’ record to 18-6 overall and 10-4 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. 

Holy Cross College is coming off a 113-73 loss to Olivet Nazarene Feb. 7. Junior Guard Kari Barnes had 22 points, while sophomore guard Shana Anderson had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the setback. Carmen Lowe (14.1 ppg) leads the Saints in scoring, while teammates Barnes (13.3ppg) and Tagin Schultheis (11.6ppg) also add double-figure scoring averages for HCC. 

Purdue Calumet leads the all-time series with the Saints 11-0, and Tom Megyesi  has coached the Peregrines in every one of the games. Earlier this season, Purdue Calumet defeated Holy Cross College, 68-59 at the Fitness and Rec Center. Senior Kami Graber 18 points and junior Jada Buggs had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. 

Jada Buggs leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points per contest while sophomore teammate Cassidy Deno is close behind at 16.5 points per game. Patrice McBee, NAIA Division II's leader in field goal percentage at 67.6 percent, is averaging a double-double (13.8 ppg, 10.9 rpg) and senior Kami Graber adds 13.0 ppg and 4.5 apg.
