HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. — The Purdue University Northwest Athletics Department will host its fifth annual Late Night Madness event to celebrate the start of Pride basketball season on Thursday, October 19, at the Hammond Campus Fitness and Recreation Center.

The free event, which is open to all PNW students, faculty and staff, will begin at 9 p.m. CT inside the FRC gymnasium.  Participants are encouraged to arrive early, as the first 500 through the door will receive a special Late Night Madness T-shirt.

Free food and beverages — provided by Corporate Champions Chick-Fil-A of Merrillville, Jimmy Johns, McDonalds, Chartwells, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wendy’s, Dominos and Pepsi — will also be available, while quantities last.

The event will introduce both Purdue Northwest men’s and women’s basketball teams, led by head coaches Matt Bush and Tom Megyesi, respectively, and feature 3-point shooting and dunk contests, represented by PNW student-athletes.

Members of the crowd, however, are encouraged to participate in an array of other activities and games, including a dance contest, tug-of-war, and more, with chances to win prizes sponsored by the Purdue Northwest Alumni Community.  A Beats by Dre headphones, a Playstation 4 and game, a 4K television, a pair of Chicago Bulls tickets and more will be up for grabs throughout the night in various contests.

Both PNW basketball teams kick off the 2017-18 season on Nov. 10 when the women’s team heads to Rolla, Mo., to take part in the two-day Lady Miner Classic hosted by Missouri S&T, while the Pride men open with its two-day Tip-Off Tournament at the James B. Dworkin Student Services & Activities Complex in Westville.
