Purdue Northwest was defeated 88-76 in its GLIAC Conference opener against Davenport University Thursday night. The Pride were plagued by turnovers and the Panthers managed to shoot 46% from 3 as they got up early and never gave up the lead. Rich Robertson scored 15 points and had five rebounds to push his scoring average back into double digits.



  • FRESHMEN IMPACT: Dean Tate has scored in double figures in each of his last five games, building the Indianapolis native into a 16.2 PPG scoring average, good for ninth in the GLIAC. Tate is also leading PNW in steals and assists. Fellow rookie Anthony Barnard has pulled down at least 10 rebounds in back-to-back games.
  • COACH ROBERTS' FIRST D-II WIN- The Pride got a win over Urbana 110-104 in overtime to bring new head coach Boomer Roberts' first career victory over a division two foe. Tate had 25 points and six rebounds as tha Black and Gold advanced to the championship game of the Tiffin Thanksvgiving Tournament. 
  • BENCH CONTRIBUTION- Freshman Chase Rankin has scored in double figures in two of PNW's last three games off the bench. Rankin is also averaging 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 2018-19.


PRIDE VS. GRAND VALLEY STATE- Saturday's game will mark the third occasion these two schools have faced off, with the most recent meeting coming January 27, 2018.  


GRAND VALLEY STATE- The Lakers enter Saturday with a 5-1 record and come off a road victory in its conference opener at Parkside 88-77. Grand Valley also took down the Tiffin Dragons 97-81 in a home contest earlier this season. PNW lost to Tiffin a week ago in the championship of the Tiffin Tournament 95-83. GVSU is led by junior Hunter Hale who is scoring 17 points per game and sophomore Jake Van Tubbergen who is averaging 16.8 PPG. Grand Valley is scoring 89 PPG, and allowing an average of 76.2 PPG.
