HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue University Northwest women's basketball team looks to get back on track as the Pride travel to Midland, Mich. to take on the Northwood Timberwolves on Saturday.

The Pride (2-9, 0-5 GLIAC) takes on the Timberwolves (5-8, 2-3 GLIAC) at the Bennett Sports Arena inside Riepma Arena starting at noon CT.

The Purdue University Northwest women’s basketball team put up a fight but the Pride were unable to pick up the victory in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Saginaw Valley State Thursday.

The Cardinals (2-10, 2-3 GLIAC) defeated the Pride (2-9, 0-5 GLIAC), 48-45, at the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex inside the H.D. Kesling Gymnasium.

Junior Shae Rhonehouse (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) led the way for the Pride with 10 points. Junior Bayley Goodman (Fowler, Ind./Benton Central) added nine points. Molly DeValkenere (Milwaukee, Wis./Brookfield) came up short on picking up a double-double on the night, recording nine points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

PNW started out the game on a 14-5 run after a jumper by Rhonehouse before the Cardinals nailed a three-pointer to end the quarter to make it 14-8.

SVSU started the quarter making a layup to make it 14-10 before the Pride scored the next four points including a three-pointer by Goodman to make it 18-10. Tayler Vauters (Rockville, Ind./Riverton Parke) was able to find Goodman for another trifecta to make it 21-11. Vauters hit a huge layup to make it 26-15 to end the first half.

NU is coming off a win against Parkside on January 3. The Timberwolves are led by Ellie Taylor, who is averaging 12.9 points per game.

Northwood leads the all-time series, 1-0, as the Timberwolves defeated the Pride last season in Westville. Michaela Kikendall (Morristown, Ind./Morristown) led the way with 15 points.
