HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest Pride Cheer & Stunt Team will hold open Tryouts for the 2019-20 season on Fri., Apr. 26, from 5:30–9 p.m. in the Fitness and Recreation Center on the Hammond campus. Check-in and registration starts at 5 p.m. Interested applicants must attend one of the prep-clinics on either Mon., Apr. 22 in Hammond or Wed., Apr. 24 in Westville from 5-9 p.m. For more information and to attend the Information Session at Hammond on Wed., Apr, 17 from 6-7 p.m.Fitness & Rec. Center, Room 127 (Graegin Center).
The 2019-20 PNW Cheer Team clinics and tryouts are open to current high school seniors, current PNW students, and transfer students. Current PNW students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in 12 PNW credit hours. Interested high school juniors and sophomores are also welcome to attend to experience the tryout process.
Participants are required to complete a sports physical, tryout waiver and related documentation before the first clinic. Those who have had a current physical (within the last six months) may submit a copy to satisfy this requirement. All paperwork must be submitted prior to or at the first clinic. A complete tryout packet with all required forms can be accessed on the PNW Athletics Spirit Squads website at

The co-ed cheer and stunt team is an important part of the spirit program at Purdue Northwest which also includes the dance team, and Leo, the mascot. All students who have previous cheer, stunt, tumbling, are encouraged to try out. A complete list of requirements can be found on the Spirit Squads webpage. The PNW Cheer and Dance Teams perform at all men’s and women’s Pride basketball games, occasional away games and tournaments and make special appearances to perform at community events and parades throughout northwest Indiana. All students who have cheer, stunt, tumbling and gymnastics experience are encouraged to try out.
