KOKOMO, Ind. – Purdue Northwest sophomore women’s golfer Libby Huston tied a school record Monday with a single-round 78 as she finished the first round of the Cougar Classic in second place overall. Her effort gave her a five over par, just four shots behind Breanna Nowak of IU-East.
The Pride finished in third place overall at the conclusion of the first round, which had been postponed due to weather from Sunday’s scheduled start. Lauren Bailey, who previously held the single-round PNW record, was next in the individual standings, as she was in a tie for 14th place with an 88.
Sophomore Candace Chandler rounded out the group for the Pride, as she ended up in a tie for 26th after shooting a 93 (+20).
Huston’s impressive showing now puts her in a tie for the best score at Purdue Northwest, a mark Bailey set at the Saginaw Valley State Invite on September 23, 2017. That event was held at Bay City Country Club in Bay City, Michigan.
