Battle Creek, Mich. – The Purdue University Northwest men’s golf team finished in a tie for fifth place after the first round at the GLIAC Championship that took place on Saturday at Bedford Valley Country Club. The team had a total of 307 team points after round one.
The Pride had three golfers finish in top 20 out of the 55 participants. Senior Jacob Plummer (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria Community) led the Pride with a first round score of 74, after shooting a +2 over par to begin to the weekend.
Senior Ryan Wells (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) and freshman Alex Bishop (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) finished round one tied for 20th both shooting a 77 being 5 strokes over par.
Junior Chase Picken (Manito, Ill./Midwest Central) finished off the day tied for 32nd with a score of 79 (+7) after the first round.
Brian Brzycki (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) recorded a 80 (+8) to end the round tied for 38th.
PNW returns to the golf course, Saturday, April 20 as the Pride compete in the second round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
