PNW Men's Basketball Signs Two New Transfers for 2019-2020 Season

Hammond, Ind. & Westville, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest (PNW) Men’s Basketball program has signed two junior transfer student-athletes to the 2019-2020 roster. Jordan Doss and Brandon Martin will join the Pride this fall.

Doss, a 6-5 wing from Chicago, Ill. will be transferring to PNW from Southwestern College. During his last season at Southwestern, he averaged nine points a game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 39 percent from behind the arc.

“I want to come to Purdue Northwest because of the way family is treated here,” said Doss. “The coaching staff is amazing. We’re ready to get to work.”

While a high school senior at Hope Academy, Doss was named to the Chicago Sun-Times 1st Team 1A All-State in 2017 and was a Chicago Sun-Times Honorable Mention All-City while a senior at Hope Academy.

“Jordan brings athleticism and shooting to the wing position,” said PNW Head Men’s Basketball Coach Boomer Roberts. “He has a great range on his jumper, can get to the rim and we love his ability to finish in transition. His size and versatility allow him to play and defend multiple positions, which will give our roster more flexibility. We’re counting on him to bring a level of toughness and maturity to our program from day one.”

Martin, a 6-5 forward from Memphis, Tenn. will be transferring to PNW from Olive-Harvey College.

“I chose PNW because of the opportunity to earn a great education and to be a part of the PNW Basketball family,” said Martin. “We’re going to do something special together.”

During his 2018-19 season, he averaged seven points a game while shooting 55 percent from the field. During his last season, he scored 23 points, ten rebounds, five steals and three blocks in a single game against Harper College.

“Brandon is tough, experienced and a physical competitor who makes plays happen,” said Coach Roberts. “His coaches at Olive-Harvey raved about his team-first attitude, and we’re expecting him to raise the level every day.”

The duo will join the 2019 recruiting class comprised of Jyrus Feels, Gabe Toombs, Xavier Hallinan and Xavier Allision for the Pride’s 2019-20 season.
