HAMMOND, Ind. -- Purdue University Northwest Baseball Player Ray Hilbrich has been named a Midwest Collegiate League All-Star for his performance on the Crestwood Panthers this summer.
Hilbrich is hitting .390 so far this season for the Panthers, with three triples and 12 runs scored for the Panthers.
"I am honored to be included in a group with such talented ball players," said Hilbrich. "I am very excited to have some fun at the all-star game."
Hilbrich has just finished his first season with PNW where he earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors. This past season, he led the team in hitting with a .362 batting average with 59 hits, 29 runs scored, two home runs and 25 RBI.
During the 2019 season, PNW Baseball went 21-27 overall and 16-12 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchups, advancing to the program's first-ever GLIAC Tournament appearance.
The Crestwood Panthers are a summer wood-bat baseball team based in Midlothian, Illinois which is part of the Midwest Collegiate League.
The Panthers will be joined by representatives from the Northwest Indiana Oilmen and Southland Vikings for the East All-Star team. They will face off against the MCL West All-Stars, with representatives from the Joliet Generals, DuPage County Hounds, and Bloomington Bobcats.
The two sides will meet on July 13 at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, Indiana with first pitch at 7:10 p.m. CT.
