PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Purdue University Northwest men’s basketball team dropped a 72-45 decision to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Trinity Christian Wednesday night.
The Pride (7-12, 5-6 CCAC) were led by Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) who poured in 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting including seven rebounds.
Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) recorded six points with two assists and Shereff Knight (Michigan City/Michigan City) rounded out the offense with five points and three assists.
Trinity Christian (6-12, 3-8 CCAC) started the game off hot, jumping out to a 22-15 advantage with 8:24 left in the first half.
The Trolls would extend its lead to double-digits over the Black and Gold heading in to the break, 36-22.
A made layup from Knight with 18:07 left in the second half cut the Pride’s deficit to eight points, 38-30, but the Trolls would come back and take a 57-37 advantage midway through the half.
TCC would keep a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and come away with the 72-45 victory.
The Black and Gold return to action Saturday, January 14, when they host St. Xavier University at the Fitness and Recreation Center at 3 p.m. (CT.)
