HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue University Northwest men's basketball team will look to rebound as the Pride travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Indiana South Bend Saturday.
The Pride (11-13, 9-7 CCAC) will take on the Titans (11-14, 5-11 CCAC) at the Student Activities Center starting at 2 p.m. (CT) Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
PNW is coming off a setback to CCAC foe Olivet Nazarene on Feb. 1. Cyril Lewis (Houston, Texas/Virgina Union) led the way for the Pride, scoring a career-high 17 points. Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) scored 13 points and Duron Ivery (South Bend, Ind./Washington) added a season-high 10 points in the setback.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
IUSB is coming off a 85-63 setback to CCAC opponent Trinity Christian College on Feb. 1. Freshman Alex Harmon and junior Taylor Brooks both led the Titans with 13 points each. The Titans are led offensively by senior Avery Harmon, who averages 18.2 points per game.
Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Hope Academy) leads the Pride at 17 ppg and 10.4 rpg. Coe adds 15.3 ppg and has hit a team-best 58 triples on the season. Spring adds 13.2 ppg and has made 55 3’s to round out PNW’s leaders.
CCAC TOURNAMENT IMPLICATIONS
The PNW men's basketball team currently stands in second place in the CCAC South Division with a 9-7 record in the CCAC one game behind south leader St. Francis (Ill.) with five games left including Saturday. The two teams face each other at the Fitness and Recreation Center on Feb. 8.
PNW leads the all-time series against IUSB, 1-0, as the Pride defeated the Titans at the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex on Nov. 30, 69-63. Johnson picked up his then third double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, Coe had 19 points and Franklin Nunn (Anderson, Ind./Liberty Christian) added 16 points in the victory.
