EAST MOLINE, Ill. - The Purdue University Calumet golf team finished eighth of out a very competitive 10-team field at the Ashford Invitational at Short Hills Country Club this weekend, recording a team score of 978 for the three-round event.
Charles Sawyer led the way for the Peregrines, firing a career-best round of 76 in the opening round en route to a 30th-place finish and a three-day total of 240. Mat Bowen finished one stroke behind with a 241, while Aaron Mercer and Tim Talley tallied scores of 248 and 249 for the tournament.
Ashford's Chien Hau Tan claimed medalist honors with a total score of 211 to lead the Saints to the team title with a score of 877.
Purdue Calumet will wrap up its 2012 fall season at the Chicago State Invitational next weekend, October 14-15.
