Men’s Golf Sits in First Place After Day 1 of Mike Lalaeff Invite

CROWN POINT, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest men’s golf team lead the field of five teams Thursday afternoon with a score of 312 in the first round of the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point, Ind.

Jacob Plummer (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) led the way for PNW, shooting a 77 for the day which gave him a share for the lead.

Ryan Wells (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) and Chase Picken (Manito, Ill./Midwest Central) each ended the day tied for fourth place with a score of 78

Junior Payton Smith (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) shot a 79 in the opening round and is placed in seventh while teammate Brian Brzycki (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) finished tied for 11tth and a score of 82.

Leo Govert (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) led the way for the PNW Black squad with a score of 80, putting him in eighth place with teammate Alex Bishop sitting just behind with a score of 81.

Jake Nietfeldt (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) finished with an 85 and is in 19th place while Michael Goodman (Dyer, Ind./Mount Carmel) and Mitch Hudson each are tied for 22nd with a score of 92.

The Pride wrap up the Mike Lalaeff Invitational tomorrow morning with a 10 am (CST) start time at White Hawk Country Club.
