PNW Student-Athletes Shine Academically For Spring Semester

HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest student-athletes shined in the classroom again with the recent release of the 2018 Spring Semester Academic report. Over 200 student-athletes combined to average a collective grade point average (GPA) of 3.21.

Payne Honored; Senior Earns Third Team All-American Recognition

Hammond, Ind. & Westville, Ind. – The accolades continue to come in for senior Kyleigh Payne (Bourbonnais, Ill./Kankakee CC/Bishop McNamara) as she was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division II All-American Third Team Wednesday evening.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Less than a week after earning the Softball Player of the Year award from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Purdue Northwest senior Kyleigh Payne (Bourbonnais, Ill./Kankakee CC/Bishop McNamara) continued to haul in the postseason awards when she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-Midwest Region First Team Wednesday.

Late Rally ends PNW Softball Season at GLIAC Tournament

Sandusky, Ohio – The Purdue University Northwest softball team saw its 2018 season come to an end on a walk-off base hit that gave Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.) a 2-1 victory in the elimination bracket in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) softball tournament action Saturday morning at the Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio.

Sandusky, Ohio – Freshman Courtney Blackwell (Whiting, Ind./Whiting), went the distance (8-8) tossing 7 innings with 5 hits, two runs (one earned), three walks and three strikes to help lead the Purdue University Northwest softball team to a 7-2 victory over Ferris State University (Mich.) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) softball tournament action Friday afternoon at the Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio.


Payne Named Player of the Year; PNW Softball Lands Four All-GLIAC

Becoming the first Purdue Northwest athlete to earn a Player of the Year award from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), senior Kyleigh Payne (Bourbonnais, Ill./Kankakee CC/Bishop McNamara) put a big exclamation point on her sensational collegiate career Friday when the conference released its postseason softball awards. Joining her on the 2018 All-GLIAC Softball Team were senior Holly Pagan (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) as a second team selection as well as senior Samme Miller (North Salem, Ind./St. Joseph’s College/Tri-West) and junior Taylor Kotzo (Munster, Ind./Munster).
