LINCOLN, Ill. -- The PNW volleyball team started their season on the road against the Lincoln College Lynx, dropping their season opener in a hard-fought competition. After dropping the first set, the Pride surged back to claim victory in sets two and three before falling to Lincoln in the remaining two sets.
Senior Brooke Ahrens (Covington, Ind./Covington) claimed a double double during the competition and junior Danielle Fowler (Highland, Ind./Highland) left the court after recording 21 digs.
“Brooke and Danielle did a nice job leading the charge,” said Head Coach Julie Wiejak. “We are a young team that is learning and growing every day. We are finding our way as a team and we saw some very exciting things tonight that we plan to work on and make more consistent.”
The Lynx took control of the first set and took the win 25-22. The Pride would them come back, claiming the second set 27-25 and the third set 25-17. Lincoln College was eventually able to overtake the energetic surge from the Pride and take the fourth set 25-14 and the final set 15-10.
The Pride will return to action Saturday, September 7 when they take on Calumet College of Saint Joseph’s at 11:00 a.m.
