PNW Volleyball Claims Pair of Victories on the Road

HAMMOND, Ind. & WESTVILLE, Ind. – The PNW Volleyball team claimed a pair of victories on the road today over Calumet College of Saint Joseph’s and Governors State University, sweeping both teams in three matches.

“Brooke [Ahrens] played fantastic today,” said Head Coach Julie Wiejak. “She ran a really great 5-1 offense, served aggressively, was offensive and played great defense. Her leadership matched her play and he helped keep our side calm and composed all day. We are finding our way as a team and I was proud of the way we played together as a unit.”

MATCH 1: CAL COLLEGE 0, PNW 3

Sophomore Annie Pulizos led the way for the Pride with 5 kills, leading a pack of freshmen Haley Faley, Autumn Beaudoin, and Kenzie Duggan who each recorded four of their own. Senior Brooke Ahrens led an impress charge for the Pride, collecting 21 assists and 11 aces, while junior Danielle Fowler recorded eight digs.

MATCH 2: GOVERNORS STATE 0, PNW 3

Ahrens led the charge in the second game with 42 assists, 13 digs and 2 aces. Fowler also recorded 13 digs while Pulizos once more led the team with 13 kills. The team collected a total of 47 kills and 97 attacks before sweeping in three sets.

The Pride will return to action Friday, September 13 as they travel to Kenosha, Wis. For the Parkside Crossover. First game will be against Upper Iowa at 12:30 p.m. (CT)
