Warrenville, Ill. – Freshman Jennifer Crague (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) finished in 14th place overall to lead the Purdue Northwest women’s cross country team Friday afternoon at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Benedictine University in Warrenville, Ill. The Pride placed eighth in the 16-team field. Crague completed the 6K (6,000 meters) race in a time of 24:00 to pace PNW. Freshman Lucy Appelman (Portage, Ind./Portage) also ran an impressive race for the Pride finishing 35th overall in the field of 183 runners with a time of 24:56.
Freshman Allison Tokarz (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley) was the next finisher for Purdue Northwest taking 59th place with a time of 25:27. Senior Rachel Gregory (Highland, Ind./Highland) took 63rd place with a time of 25:39, while senior Shyla Huppenthal (Boulder, Colo./Northglenn) wrapped up the scorers for the Pride in 65th place at 25:41. Junior Sara Kubas (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) finished in 67th place for PNW with a time of 25:42.
Other finishers for Purdue Northwest Friday were: freshman Samantha Chappell (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) with a time of 28:45 and senior Abigail Bondi (Whiting, Ind./Whiting) with a time of 32:59. PNW finished with 205 points. North Central College won the event with 46 points.
The Pride are now off until Saturday, October 21, when they head to Marquette, Mich., for the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships. The event is hosted by Northern Michigan University and held at Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course. The women’s 6K race is scheduled for an 11 a.m. ET start.
