CROWN POINT, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest women’s golf team finished in third place at the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invite at White Hawk Country Club Friday afternoon.
The Pride finished with an overall team score of 424, while the champion Olivet Nazarene notched a 338 team score. Robert Morris finished in second place with a 375 team score while Governors State finished fourth with an overall score of 567.
Freshman Lauren Bailey (Wanatah, Ind./Lacrosse) led the way for the Black and Gold, shooting a team-high 88 to give her a fifth place finish on the day, while Darian Smith (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) finished just behind with a 90, finishing seventh.
Meaghan Spalla (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) finished tied for 12th for with the team's third-best score of 100 and Jenna Gericke (Highland, Ind./Highland) finished 20th with a score of 146.
Bailey and Smith both recorded one birdie and six pars each while Spalla recorded three pars and one birdie on the day.
Purdue Northwest returns to the course on Monday, Oct. 17, when the Pride kick travel to Belmont, Mich. for the two-day Davenport University Invite.
