UPLAND, Ind. – The PNW Women’s Golf team took fourth place on the road at the Taylor University Players Club Invitational, shooting a team score of 690 over the two days of play. Libby Huston (Yale, Mich./Yale) led the team with a personal score of 162, tying her personal best and PNW’s individual school record.
“After a disappointing day one, the women really responded for the second round,” said Head Coach Randy Wexter. “We know as a team that we are leaving a lot of shots on the course. We will work this week to make better club selections and overall course management decisions.”
Senior Lauren Bailey (Wanatah, Ind./Lacrosse) played a fairly consistent game, putting up scores of 84 and 85 across the two days of play. Junior Sydney Valiska (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) cut six strokes off her score from the first round, scoring an 89 and 83. Seniors Darian Smith (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) and Rachel Pennington (Circleville, Ohio/Logan Elm) finished 33rd in 187 and 36th in 189 respectively.
Host Taylor University took the invitational title with a team score of 603.
The Pride will return to action on September 30th at the Lewis University Invitational in Lemont, Ill.
