WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Purdue University Calumet women's soccer surrendered two goals in the second half, as the University of the Cumberlands broke open a 2-2 tie at the break to notch a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon. The Peregrines drop to 5-8 on the season with the loss.
After giving up a score in the 8th minute of the match, Purdue Calumet responded with a pair of goals in a 17-second span. Nikki Goodeve found the back of the net for the sixth time of the season with 31:37 remaining in the half, before Rachel Shmagranoff punched in her third tally of the year just 17 seconds later to hand PUC a 2-1 lead. However, the Patriots evened the score in the 23rd minute to send both teams into the half deadlocked at two apiece.
The Black and Gold were outshot 12-3 in the final period, as the University of the Cumberlands scored twice to put the match away. Rachel Madsen recorded a career-high 10 saves in the contest, but fell to 3-5 on the year with the loss.
Purdue Calumet will be back in action tomorrow, October 14, when it takes on Shawnee State for a 3 p.m. CST match.
