HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team will host Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Trinity Christian Wednesday afternoon.
The Pride (5-10, 3-7 CCAC) face off with the Trolls (8-5-3, 5-3-2) who are at Dowling Park’s Pepsi Field starting at 3 p.m. (CT).
The match will be played at Dowling Park's Pepsi Field, located just east of Kennedy Avenue and north of Interstate 90/94, off J.F. Mahoney Drive, just west of the Jean Shephard Community Center located at 3031 J.F. Mahoney Dr, Hammond, IN 46323.
ADMISSION, TICKET INFO
Ticket prices for all Pride Soccer matches is $6 for adults (ages 18 and up) and $4 for children (ages 4-17). Children 3 and under are free in addition to PNW students with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket window at the entrance to Dowling Park, cash only please.
Wednesday also marks Senior Day, when the Purdue Northwest women’s soccer team will honor its lone senior, Iridiana Mendoza, who has been with the Black and Gold since 2013.
LAST TIME OUT
Behind a unprecedented offensive explosion, the Purdue University Northwest women’s soccer team blanked conference foe Holy Cross College 7-0 Saturday on the road.
The Pride (5-10, 3-7 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference) saw its first hat trick of the season from any player, as freshman Alex
Vega (West Chicago, Ill./Community) connected for three-straight goals and classmate Amari Andrews (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood) added two more to lead the big offensive effort.
Freshman Mariah Fowler (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) and sophomore Shelby Ross (Nashville, Ind./Columbus North) added one goal apiece for PNW, which snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory.
Sophomore keepers Lucie Ashmore (Greystones, Ireland/St. Gerard’s School) and Kelley Sharp (Seymour, Ind./Seymour) teamed up to collect the shutout, as Ashmore started the contest and Sharp had two saves in the second 45 minutes.
Shayna Coy (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers) and Ross each led the Pride with four shots, three on goal, while Stephanie Zobel (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East), Alexa Vega (West Chicago, Ill./Community), Iridiana Mendoza (West Chicago, Ill./Community and Jayne each tallied two shots.
SCOUTING THE TROLLS
Jessica Bianchi leads the Trolls scoring efforts this season with a team-high 13 goals, but teammate Kayla Diemer is just behind her with 12 goals and a team-high nine assists in 15 matches played this season. TCC is led in goal by Sierra Christopher, who has 67 saves and a 1.20 goals against average in 16 matches.
Trinity Christian holds a 3-0 advantage over the Black and Gold, after defeating PNW last season, 5-0, in Palos Heights.
