NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Purdue University Calumet women's tennis team dropped its season opener on Wednesday afternoon, falling to North Central College, 6-3. NCC improves to 4-1 on the year, while the Black and Gold slide to 0-1.
The Peregrines picked up two wins in singles play, as freshmen Lori Haas and Amber Haworth each recorded victories. Haas cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Miranda Grizaffi in No. 1 singles, while Haworth escaped with a 6-2, 7-6 victory in No. 3 singles. Haas would go on to team with Felicia Deardorff to tally the other point for Purdue Calumet, taking home a win in No. 2 doubles.
The Black and Gold will be back in action on Saturday, September 21, when they face St. Ambrose and St. Francis (Ill.) in a tri-match in Joliet.
